Jeddah: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs has chaired the Economic Council’s meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
During the meeting, the Council reviewed several economic and development issues, including the presentation submitted by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Economy and Planning regarding monitoring the price control levels of several products in the Kingdom’s markets.

The Crown Prince stressed the need to consider the neediest citizens in the face of international developments that resulted in rising costs of some basic requirements.
He affirmed the crucial roles of ministries and government agencies in monitoring global developments related to supply chains.

The Crown Prince emphasized monitoring markets, product availability, and price control levels. He stressed the need to protect and encourage fair competition.
And prevent monopolies from restricting legitimate competition that affects consumer interests adversely.

The Ministry of Health briefed the Council on health-related developments related to the Covid 19 pandemic.
The briefing included a presentation on the epidemiological situation in the wake of the decision to lift the precautionary and preventive measures.

The presentation also detailed an update on vaccination statistics. Vaccine administration is the most important preparation for this year’s Hajj season. And the international situation of the epidemic.
The Council followed up on the periodic presentation submitted by the Ministry of Economy and Planning regarding the analysis of opening economic activities and the impact of the Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic.
The Council gave the necessary recommendations on the matters discussed.
