Saudi Arabia to Invest $100 Millions for Training 100,000 Youth in Tourism Jobs

Saudi Tourism Ministry has launched a new program Tourism Trailblazer & plans to equip 100k Saudi Youths with essential hospitality skills.

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has launched a job new program for Saudi Youths. It plans to equip 100,000 Saudi Youths with essential hospitality skills for tourism job.

These skills are needed to pursue careers in the Saudi Kingdom’s flourishing tourism industry. The program includes investments worth over $100 million.

“Tourism Trailblazers” was launched by Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb. The launch took place at the 116th session of the World Tourism Organization’s Executive Council in Jeddah.

“Tourism Trailblazers” will provide in-depth international experience to the tourism industry’s future supervisors.

The program’s aim is to train a total of 100,000 Saudis Youth in 2022. The campaign kick-started late in 2020 with a new human capital development strategy in the Saudi Kingdom’s burgeoning tourism industry.

This industry aims to attract even more Saudi nationals to the sector.

Al-Khateeb said:

“It is vital that we invest in our youth now. Creating a skilled workforce with the ambition and talent to support and drive the tourism sector globally and regionally is key to realizing Vision 2030.

This program shows our commitment to empowering young people. By providing them with the right support, opportunities, and skills to shape the future of our tourism industry.”

The program has three primary objectives that aim to develop, nurture and support talent in the industry.

It tries to spread a culture of professionalism and help nascent professionals gain the qualifications and knowledge needed to break into the industry.

The program supports their success by refining their skills. The program will allow trainees to secure jobs within the sector, including seasonal, full-time, or part-time opportunities across the Saudi Kingdom.

Al-Khateeb stressed that this and other initiatives are geared towards delivering on the National Tourism Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030 targets. This includes the creation of one million new jobs in tourism by 2030.

Mohammed Bushnag, Deputy Minister for Human Capital, made an important statement.

“A financial investment of this size demonstrates our determination to provide our youth with the tools they need to succeed.

Three-quarters of Saudi nationals now consider the tourism industry a viable career option. It is vital to support and promote the dreams of our Tourism Trailblazers and enable their further education at the best international schools.

As we continue to emerge as a global player in the sector.”

Participants in the program are set to benefit from training scholarships at leading global institutions in France, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Australia, and Italy.

Applications will be accepted from fresh graduates and Saudis who already work within the industry.

Applications will also be accepted from Saudis who aspire to start a career in the hospitality, tourism, culinary, service, and sales fields. — SG
