Riyadh — The consumer price index for June 2022 increased by 2.3 percent compared to the same period last year. The June CPI was slightly higher than the previous month, which stood at 2.2 percent.
According to the data reported by the General Authority for Statistics on Thursday, the consumer price index (inflation rate) increased due to increased food and beverage prices. Food prices rose by 4.4 percent and transportation costs by 2.5 percent.

GASTAT report shows the food sector’s significant impact on annual inflation rise in June 2022.
The prices in the transport segment increased by 2.5 percent, affected by the increase in car prices of 3.3 percent. Services and miscellaneous personal goods prices increased by 2.4 percent.

The education segment also saw an increase of 6.2 percent. The intermediate and secondary education costs increased by 13.8 percent.
The consumer price index for June was primarily affected by food and beverage prices. Food prices were affected by the increase in meat prices by 1.3 percent.
