Makkah, July 18, 2021, The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque have implemented the latest AI technology for the service of pilgrims and visitors.
In this regard, the General Presidency’s Environmental Protection and Epidemic Control Department supported the enhanced disinfection works at the Grand Holy Mosque and its courtyards by providing robots. The robots use a control system protecting the environment and analyzing sterilization requirements according to various usage scenarios and courses of sterilization.
Director of Technical and Service Affairs Naif Al-Jahdali has said that the robots received SLAM patent. The robots carrying 23.8 liters of sterilizers with a consumption rate of two liters per hour can work between five and eight hours without any human intervention and eliminate bacteria in an area of 600 square meters.
He added that there are also robots that distribute bottles of Zamzam water. For example, during a trip of 10 minutes, the robot distributes 30 bottles of Zamzam water. He concluded that this comes as a part of implementing precautionary and preventive measures and harnessing technologies to serve visitors of the Two Holy Mosques.
