Saudi Arabia – Many Mosques Closed Due To Covid

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Islamic Affairs closed the number of Mosques in five regions after confirming coronavirus cases among worshipers.

The Ministry of Islamic AffairsMinistry of Islamic Affairs closed 14 mosques temporarily in 4 regions after 14 cases of Coronavirus infection were established.

Among worshipers, bringing a total of 475 mosques within 57 days, 454 of which were opened after the completion of sterilization and completion of readiness within the safety protocol to ensure the safety of worshippers.

This came in a report issued by the Ministry. It stated that:

  • Six mosques were closed in the Riyadh region, where 6 cases of infection were reported.
  • Three mosques in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Al-Qassim regions were with 3 cases. 
  • two mosques in the eastern area, with two corona cases 

The Ministry also stated the reopening of 13 mosques, 5 in Al-Qassim region, 3 in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, a mosque in Riyadh, a mosque in the eastern region, a mosque in the northern border region, a mosque in Asir region, and a mosque in Jazan region, after completing all precautionary measures of sterilization and maintenance.

At the end of its daily statement, the Ministry called on worshipers and mosque employees to follow all instructions related to the precautionary measures to preserve the safety and health of those visiting the homes of Allah.
