As per information from the General Department of Traffic, there is to be a provision in the implementation law that requires traffic law violators to pay their fines within a specific time.

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia’s traffic authorities will soon bring about a series of new measures to further enhance traffic safety and reduce accident casualties. The new implementation law stipulates the trial of traffic fine defaulters.

In the event of default by the violator, he will be referred to the court to compel him to pay the fine.

These efforts have resulted in bringing down the number of severe accident cases during the past three years by 34 percent. Also, the number of traffic fatalities decreased by 51 percent, thanks to the awareness campaigns and the development of automatic monitoring systems under an integrated traffic mechanism.

It is noteworthy that Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Saud Bin Naif revealed that serious accidents have decreased by 34 percent over the past three years. He also noted that the activation of the traffic safety system also contributed to reducing traffic accidents by 46 percent and serious traffic violations by 54 percent.
