Elon Musk, The Tesla CEO, says He is ‘Thinking of Quitting’ his Job

It was not immediately clear if the prolific social media platform user, Musk, was serious about quitting his roles in multiple companies.

Dec 10 Reuters reported Elon Musk the Tesla Inc Chief Executive Officer; is “thinking of” quitting his jobs to become an influencer, quoting the world’s richest man tweet of Thursday.

“Thinking of quitting my jobs & becoming a full-time influencer wdyt,” said Musks tweet, without elaborating.

It was not immediately clear if the prolific social media platform user, Musk, was serious about quitting his roles in multiple companies.

Musk, in addition, is also the CEO and founder of SpaceX, a rocket company, and heads the brain-chip startup Neuralink; and infrastructure company The Boring Company had said during a conference call in January, “I expect to be the CEO of Tesla for “several years.”

“It would be nice to have a bit more free time for myself as opposed to just working day and night. From when I wake up to when I go to sleep. Seven days a week, Pretty intense.”

Last month, Musk asked his followers on Twitter whether he should sell 10% of his stake in the electric-car maker to pay taxes, to which the majority agreed. He has since sold shares worth nearly $12 billion.

Lawyers have said, the billionaire’s Twitter banter; and lively interactions with followers have raised regulatory and corporate governance questions in the past. Musk, in 2018 was fined $20 million by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for his tweets and was required to step down as chairman.

Howard Fischer, a partner at law firm Moses & Singer; said he doubted Musk’s latest tweets violated any rules because they were too vague.

He added: “I think that Musk’s social media comments are subjected to substantial discount by the market, as compared to other executives.”
