MHRSD Resolves the Dispute Between Filipino Housemaids and Employer

Riyadh – The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said that its timely intervention had resolved a dispute between a Saudi citizen and several Filipino housemaids. The housemaids were then returned to the Philippines after the matter was settled.

The housemaids’ returned home as per their wish, and their return home was coordinated with the Embassy of the Philippines in Riyadh.

In its press statement, the ministry said that it is currently in contact with its counterpart in the Philippines; about reports that appeared in a section of the media in that country; about the temporary suspension of Filipino housemaid recruitment to the Kingdom.

The ministry issued this clarification after noticing several media reports of temporary suspension of recruitment of housemaids to the Kingdom; following a dispute between the Filipino housemaids and a citizen.

The ministry emphasized it would guarantee the rights of workers of all nationalities.

“The ministry is working with the official channels of its counterparts in the Philippines to discuss the reports published; in the media regarding Manila’s temporary suspension of sending domestic workers to the Kingdom,” the statement added.
