Saudi Education Ministry announced that it would start working on blended learning (double major) in the following new academic year.

Riyadh — The Ministry of Education announced that it would start working on blended learning (double major) in the following new academic year.

This option allows the track system secondary school students to obtain a double major, including a general and a specialization major. Blended learning refers to an integration of traditional face-to-face class activities and online activities.

Upon graduation, the student will obtain two secondary school certificates (double major), one in the general major and the other in the specialization major he studied online.

Optional subjects include engineering, computer, health, business, or other disciplines.

The ministry explained that the step would give flexibility and additional educational opportunities to students in the general track.

Additionally, it will improve equal access to education. The new option will support students in acquiring skills to qualify them for the future and the global competition in the labor market.

The ministry noted that the application of the blended learning program would help take advantage of the successes achieved during the past period in e-learning and distance learning.

The blended learning program is optional. It will enable second-year students of secondary schools of the general specialization track system to study another specialization through distance learning.

This program is per the special study plans and specific controls and standards included in the program document.
