Riyadh — In raids conducted by MHRSD, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development inspection teams have resulted in unearthing a racket of illegally employed runaway maids.

MHRSD discovered two expatriates were running the racket. The department team has so far arrested 18 runaway housemaids and several expatriates involved in providing logistics and finding jobs for the runaway maids.

The ministry team raided the hideout of the two expatriates of separate nationalities after receiving a tip about their illegal act of giving shelter and jobs for the runaway maids. The act of the Gang is a violation of law and the contract of employment of the maids. The subsequent raid following the details provided by the arrested gang members resulted in the additional arrest of the 18 housemaids.

The ministry sources disclosed that the two expatriates, in coordination with the contracting firm, were hiring out these housemaids to companies and establishments to work as part-time cleaning workers.

Several expatriates who were involved in transporting and finding jobs for the housemaids were also arrested. However, the ministry sources added that all the legal procedures have started against them before awarding penal actions against them.
