Early Tuesday morning, Riyadh — Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

As the world is focused on the withdrawal of The US troops from Afghanistan, its longest war in history. Iran-backed Houthi militia took the situation as an opportunity to slip through attacks, with expectations of these going unnoticed.

In its statement, the Coalition to Support the Legitimate Government in Yemen called the attempt of the Houthi militia to deliberately target the airport a war crime. The world community will need to take serious note of these crimes and bear pressure on the perpetrators to bring to a just end the ongoing conflict.

The Coalition force statement added further, “We are taking all operational measures to deal with the source of these threats to protect civilians and civilian facilities.

Additionally, the coalition said that the interception scattered shrapnel in the vicinity of the airport without injuries or damage.

Earlier on Monday, the coalition forces had shot down two drones, one targeting Jazan and the other targeting Najran.
