Saudi Arabia Bans Air Travel To and From UAE, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia will restrict travel to and from UAE, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Afghanistan over Coronavirus concerns. The ban is due to start Sunday 4th of July, reports Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Saturday.

The ban will be in effect starting Sunday, July 4th. It will be applicable to all those been in the banned countries in the last 14 days. However, the report goes, Saudi Citizens who return before Sunday will be exempted.

The report further states that the ban is based on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s keenness on the safety of all citizens wishing to travel abroad. Especially in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and the new mutated strain.

Saudi Arabia had previously banned travel to and from 20 countries starting February 3rd with certain exceptions. This too, was to curb the rapid spread of the virus. However, the ban was lifted in May on 11 of the countries in the 20 country ban. However, the ban was only lifted for those citizens who developed enough immunity or recuperated after contracting the virus. Citizens who had not yet developed complete immunity were still obligated to quarantine for 14 days before flying. As well as again upon re-entry to the Kingdom.
