Jeddah — King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has announced the launch of a Sea Taxi project in cooperation with King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The project is designed to alleviate the transportation needs by linking KAUST to KAEC and facilitate the transportation process.

The initial trial of the sea taxi took place in Jeddah, making it the first such experiment to connect the university and the city with a shortened distance of 7.5 kilometers. This shortening of travel distance will shorten the travel time between the two points.

On Aug. 4, 2021, Jazan Governor Prince Muhammad Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the sea ambulance service in the Farasan Island Governorate.

The sea ambulance has three beds, including an ICU bed. However, as a contingency, the ambulance has the capacity to increase the number of beds to five beds.
