The goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 are not limited to rebuilding the national economy, diversifying sources of income, achieving a cultural renaissance, and developing regulations, laws, and legislation. The Vision extends to and includes an ideal and healthy life for the citizens. Therefore, it has become the main objective of Saudi megaprojects to achieve the envisioned goals.

“Green Riyadh” is one of Riyadh’s four mega projects launched by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It is under the supervision of the Committee of Grand Projects chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense. In conclusion, the main feature of the Green Riyadh Project is the planting of 7.5 million trees in the city.

The project will transform Riyadh into a giant green patch surrounded by a desert area. As a result, the green transformation of the city will give it natural beauty, clean air, and improved quality of life.

HRH, the Crown Prince, explaining his Vision for Riyadh, said, ‘’We want Riyadh to be among the ten largest city economies of the world – today it ranks at number 40”. The Crown Prince added ‘’We also aim to increase its population from 7.5 million residents today to around 15-20 million residents in 2030,” he said.

Green Riyadh will cover all the capital. It will include gardens, parks, mosques, schools, healthcare facilities, and most of the city’s roads, streets, and car parking spaces.
