Saudi Arabia's unemployment rate remained at 11.3% during the 3rd quarter of 2021, in comparison with previous quarter, new data from GASTAT showed

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia’s unemployment rate remained at 11.3 percent during the third quarter of 2021, in comparison with the previous quarter, new data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

The unemployment rate for males and females stood at 5.9 percent and 21.9 percent, respectively, in the same period. Meanwhile, unemployment among the total working-age population was unchanged at 6.6 percent in the three months.

In comparison to the previous year, the unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia; has gone down by 1.9 percentage points during the third quarter of 2021.

The Saudi public sector has accounted for 27.1 percent of the total labor force employed; at the end of quarter 3 of 2021, while the percentage of the labor force used in the private sector peaked at 54.3 percent.

Saudis accounted for 53.3 percent of the employed in the public sector; while 45.8 percent found employment in the private sector. Conversely, the non-Saudis made up 61.3 percent of the private sector and 33 percent of the public sector.

Other sectors include self-employed, family workers, non-profit organizations, domestic labor, regional and international organizations, agricultural sector workers.
