Riyadh: The Conference of Women Empowerment and Their Development Role during the Reign of King Salman; organized by the Imam Mohammad bin Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) over two days; yielded 11 proposals to support, empower and spur the participation of national women forces in the various economic development.
Dr. Ahmad bin Salem Al-Ameri, the Rector at IMSIU Rector noted that the conference and participants highly appreciated the achievements in women empowerment during the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. He mentioned developing laws and regulations that empower women; the labor bylaw, and the judicial decisions that have enhanced women’s rights and development.
The conference speakers recommended modernizing the social discourse in the media and cultural programs to correct.

The conference recommendations highlighted the importance of investing in the national women’s competencies to participate in international events; for changing the stereotypical image of the Saudi woman yet preserving the indigenous values and heritage of the Saudi women.
There were suggestions of establishing a media platform showcasing updated information and statistics on the Saudi woman’s achievements and publishing these in several languages.
The conference also stressed the importance of advancing women’s academic leadership; to realize efficiency through educational programs for Saudi women in higher education institutions to meet the needs of the future labor market.
