The head coach, Herve Menard, leads the side after a brilliant qualifying performance which secured their participation back in March.
This time, all eyes will be on Salem Al-Dawsari, the team’s leading scorer. His pairing with Fahad Al-Muwallad would have been explosive, but sadly the latter was dropped from the squad.

What is our group, and when are the matches
Group C at FIFA World Cup 2022
Saudia Arabia is in Group C with Argentina, Mexico, and Poland. Group C is a tough group by all means of the word.
The Saudi defenders will have to face the likes of Lionel Messia and Robert Lewandowski, strikers who have the prowess to turn the game on its head all by themselves.
Match 1: Argentina Tuesday 22 November 1 PM
The group opener will be played under daylight in a forecasted weather of 28C with a humid wind. The climate favors the green falcons, who are accustomed to playing in similar conditions.
This does not ease the task of stopping the abundance of talent Argentina has on display: Angel Di Maria, Dyaba, and Lautoru Martinez. One of the favorites to win the tournament.
Match 2: Poland Saturday 26 November, 4 PM
Poland is led by their favorite talisman Rober Lewandowski who was last in their group. This time they might be looking to improve their standings, and it could be a tall order for Saudi Arabia to surpass this team.
Match 3: Mexico Wednesday 30 November 10 PM
Mexico has qualified for the Round of 16, 7 consecutive times. They’ll be hoping to make that eight, but nothing is guaranteed with a group as closely matched as this one.
They will indeed feel the absence of their prolific goal scorer Javier Hernandez that has led the team to success in the past.

What are our chances of qualifying for knockouts?
There are alot of reasons why you should be hopeful. If past performances are to be any indicator, Saudi Arabia did take down Egypt last time. The falcons came back from 1-0 down to 2-1 up to stun Mo Salah’s squad.
Similarly, the brilliant showing in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers by topping the group is also a sign of good preparation and management by coach Herve Renard.
Saudi Arabia beat Egypt with a late winner in World Cup 2018’s last group-stage match.
But the reality is, there’s a very slim chance that Saudi Arabia will make it to the Round of 16. The quality of opponents that the Saudi team will face is more than its regional rivals or opponents.
But that shouldn’t be a deterrent as to why Saudi Arabia can’t create memories or moments on football’s grandest stage.
With competition as big as the Football World Cup 2022, the players should value the experience of playing at such a stage and level with a young and inexperienced squad.
