A colorful opening ceremony kickstarts the Saudi Games 2022 in Riyadh
Riyadh — Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Governor of Riyadh Region, represented the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, HRH, King Salman, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman, at the opening ceremony of the first Saudi Games 2022.
The Saudi Games 2022, with over 6000 participating athletes, is the biggest national sporting event.
Riyadh’s King Fahd International Stadium will also have 2,000 technical and administrative supervisors to manage the event.
Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, received Prince Faisal at the venue.
Prince Abdulaziz is the chairman of the organizing committee of the Saudi Games 2022 and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
Saudi Games 2022 opened with the royal anthem. A march of the participating athletes carrying the flags of the Olympic committee.
Prince Abdulaziz thanked the Crown Prince and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for their generous support of this national sporting event.
Prince Faisal announced the Saudi Games by thanking Allah for his blessing and said, “I announce the opening of the first Saudi Games 2022 in Riyadh.”
Fireworks lit up the stadium sky with Olympic athletes passing the Saudi Games torch to its official platform, marking the launch of this monumental national sporting event.
Goals and Purpose
The Governor of Riyadh Region praised the Saudi Games and the great goals it seeks under the support and guidance of King Salman and the support and interest of the Crown Prince. He also wished everyone all success at the event.
The Saudi Games event is spread across 22 sports facilities in Riyadh. With male and female athletes competing in 45 sports categories. The event also includes 5 Paralympic sports.
The event’s effect on Sporting culture
The highly charged athletes are motivated to perform at their best and compete for the highest prizes in the region’s history. The total prize money announced is SR200 million.
- Gold medal winners will receive one million riyals,
- Silver medal winners will receive SR 300,000,
- The bronze medal winner will receive SR100,000.
Saudi Games 2022 aims to develop the popularity of different games within the Kingdom with an ideal sporting environment for athletes of different sports.
The games seek to enhance the Kingdom’s expertise in organizing major sporting events and achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 targets.
