Madinah, Saudi Arabia, has taken a major step forward in public transport. The City Bus Network just added nine new routes, bringing the total to 15. This expansion strengthens connections across the city and improves access to key destinations for both residents and visitors.
What Are the New Routes?
The new routes focus on Madinah’s busiest neighborhoods and key landmarks. Some of the most notable include:
- Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport to the Prophet’s Mosque (6 stops)
- Meeqa to Haramain High Speed Rail (33 stops)
- Al Faisaliah to Mudhainib (52 stops)
- Sayyid al-Shuhada Square to Al Aliyah (29 stops)
- Al Qaswa to Khalidiyah (37 stops)
- Holy Quran Printing Press to Al-Khandaq (20 stops)
- Al-Faisaliyah to Miqat (39 stops)
- Jabal A’ir to Al-Duaitha (30 stops)
- Miqat to Industrial Cities (12 stops)
The network also introduced routes from Mahzur to Bustan Al-Safiyah (16 stops), King Fahd District to Quba Mosque (31 stops), and Shuran to Al-Arid District (56 stops). Additional connections now run from Al-Mub’ath to Al-Oyoun (29 stops), Airport District to Al-Aliyah (44 stops), and Al-Aliyah to Al-Qaswa (22 stops).
How Big Is the Network Now?
With this expansion, Madinah’s bus system now operates 177 buses across 639 kilometers, covering 455 stations. Five of the routes run 24/7, while others operate up to 22 hours each day.
