Laws & RegulationsAmendments to KSA Traffic Violation Laws: Everything You Need to Know

Discover the recent updates in traffic violation laws by the General Directorate of Traffic KSA. Find out more about the new 50% discount on traffic fines and other amendments in this article.

The latest update mandates a 50% deduction in the accumulated traffic fines. This law is effective from Thursday, 18th April. However, note that this reduction covers all traffic fines before 18th April 2024 only and will last for the next six months (till October 18).

Moreover, to further ease the financial burden, payment of these fines can be made separately for each violation if you are unable to pay the total amount at once.

However, if you commit the following four traffic violations, you will not be allowed to receive this 50% discount.

These violations are:

  1. Drifting
  2. Driving under the influence of drugs or any other banned substances
  3. Exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h where the speed limit is 120 km/h
  4. Exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h where the speed limit is 140 km/h

Furthermore, if you have any traffic fines after 18th April 2024, you can also get a fine reduction. According to Article 75, you can receive a 25% discount on a single traffic ticket.

If you are unable to pay the total amount immediately, you can request a grace period of up to 90 days. However, you must pay the fine within the legal payment deadline or you might face imprisonment. After the due date, the amount will automatically be deducted from your bank account.

To pay your traffic ticket, you can either use the SADAD payment system or the National Violations Platform (Eefa). Make sure to engage with official payment channels only to avoid scams and frauds.
