Riyadh—The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1446 AH has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, confirming that the holy month will commence on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia made the announcement after receiving verified reports from moon-sighting committees across the Kingdom.
Muslims across Saudi Arabia and many other countries, following the Kingdom’s moon-sighting decision, will observe the first Taraweeh prayers on Friday, February 28, 2025, and begin fasting on March 1.
Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, is a time of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, breaking their fast with iftar, followed by special nightly prayers known as Taraweeh.
Authorities have urged residents to prepare for a blessed and peaceful Ramadan by following local mosques’, community gatherings’, and charitable activity guidelines.
As Ramadan begins, Saudi cities, including Makkah and Madinah, are expected to welcome millions of worshippers for Umrah and special prayers at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s(PBUH) Mosque.
The Ramadan fasting period lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on the next moon sighting, which determines the date for Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
May this Ramadan bring peace, blessings, and spiritual fulfillment to all. Ramadan Mubarak!
