Are you a resident or a tourist in the United Arab Emirates and are planning to perform Umrah? Read this article to understand the process of applying for an Umrah Visa from UAE.
What is an Umrah Visa?
The Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry requires everyone to apply for an Umrah Visa, an electronic visa granted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia if they wish to perform Umrah.
Additionally, the Umrah Visa allows pilgrims to visit Makkah, Madinah, and all the cities of Saudi Arabia during their stay. However, remember that non-Muslims are not allowed to enter Makkah and Madinah.
Applying for an Umrah Visa from UAE
For UAE Nationals
If you are a UAE national or belong to any GCC country, you do not have to apply for an Umrah visa to enter Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah. You can go through the immigration process by showing your passport or your Emirati Identity Card.
However, you will need certain documents to clear the immigration. These documents are:
1. Emirati ID Card/ passport (make sure your passport has at least six months of validity from your expected departure date)
2. Umrah permit: You can get your permit through Nusuk.
Once you have your permit, book your Umrah package based on your preferences and plan your itinerary.
For UAE Residents
If you live in UAE, you do not need an Umrah Visa to perform Umrah, regardless of your Iqama profession. However, you have to apply for a tourist visa to Saudi Arabia to go on your Umrah journey.
The documents needed to apply for the visa are:
- A valid passport with six months validity from the departure date
- A passport-size picture with a white background
- Completed Umrah application
- Residence Visa or any other proof of living in UAE
You have to apply for a Saudi Visa as a GCC resident. After you have your Umrah permit, book your Umrah package through a travel agency and plan an itinerary for your spiritual journey.
For UAE Tourists
For tourists in the UAE or anyone visiting the UAE on a Family Visa, there are three ways to apply for an Umrah Visa.
- If you are a national from any of these 49 countries, you can apply for a Saudi Tourist Visa online to perform Umrah.
- You can also get an on-arrival Saudi Visa if you have a valid UK, USA, or Schengen Visa. However, the condition is that you must have used this visa at least once. You should also have a return ticket within three months to get this on-arrival Saudi Visa.
- However, if you do not fall into the above two categories, then you can apply for an Umrah Visa through the Maqam portal.
