The Difference between OWWA and POLO

OWWA is the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the principal state agency catering to the rights, interests, and welfare of the OFWs and their families. OWWA focuses on ensuring insurance benefits to its members. 

In contrast, POLO focuses on administering, explaining, and implementing local and Filipino Labor Policies and Employment Rules for Filipinos working in foreign countries.

What?

POLO offices represent DOLE, the Department of Labor and Employment in foreign countries.

Why?

  1. To protect Filipino workers and verify their employment documents, job orders, and policy recommendations, especially concerning the Employment Permit System;
  2. Provide legal assistance to expatriate Filipinos (OFW) in case of welfare or other employment disputes.
  3. Seek and develop employment opportunities, regularly gather information, and conduct market research on overseas human resources requirements.
  4. Promote Filipino workers’ social and cultural well-being through various activities and programs.

Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) 

An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) going on vacation or leave can get their OEC from the Philippine Labor Office (POLO). This certificate is valid sixty (60) days from the date of issuance.

How to Book Your Appointment

Important points:

  • Type in your Full Name. 
  • Appointments with incomplete names will be canceled.
  • Multiple Bookings are Not Allowed. The System will cancel all Appointment Bookings in such an event.
  • Company Verifications require you to enter the CR Number.
  • Bookings without a CR number will be deleted.
  • On the day of the Appointment,
  • Bring your ID and a copy of the Booking confirmation. 

Security will not allow entry to persons whose Slots do not match the requested service.

OFWs filing complaints are required to get a URAF, A Unified Registry Assitance Form, from the reception desk.

  1. POEA STANDARD EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT 
  2. QIWA or COMPANY CONTRACT duly SIGNED by Both Parties and Stamped by the CHAMBER OF COMMERCE     
  3. COPY OF THE NEW IQAMA WITH THE NEW EMPLOYER
  4. COPY OF THE PASSPORT OF THE WORKER
  5. COPY OF THE EXIT/RE-ENTRY VISA
  6. COPY OF THE ROUND-TRIP TICKET
