Riyadh: Saudi Tawakkalna received the United Nations Public Service Award 2022 for institutional resilience and innovative responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This award further confirms Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in technology.
The award ceremony virtually honored distinguished public service figures and their achievements for sustainable development goals.
The President of Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) explained that receiving this award shows unlimited support from the leadership.
Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi said the complete support of the Crown Prince for the various initiatives launched by SDAIA had brought success and recognition.

Dr. Alghamdi said that SDAIA has accomplished many things through the efforts of its highly qualified team.
He pointed out that this achievement affirms the Kingdom’s global leadership and the Saudi Vision 2030.
Furthermore, Dr. Alghamdi noted that Tawakkalna had proven the innovations of the Saudi nation’s young cadres that stand behind its success of Tawakkalna.
SDAIA launched the Tawakkalna app to supplement government efforts to fight COVID-19. The app managed the curfew permits electronically for government and private sector employees and individuals.
Thus it helped limit the spread of the virus. During the stage of cautious return, the application launched critical services that contributed to achieving a safe return, most notably displaying the health status of users with the highest levels of safety and privacy.

Afterward, Tawakkalna started to include pandemic-related services such as verifying users’ health conditions and passports, providing COVID-19 test and vaccine services, reviewing health travel requirements, and managing the necessary permits during travel.
To harness and enhance digital transformation to achieve Vision 2030 goals, SDAIA has recently launched Tawakkalna Services. A secure digital app that facilitates people’s daily lives through various e-services within one app.
The United Nations Public Service Award is an annual forum to celebrate distinguished global innovations in the field of public service.
