If you get in an accident in Saudi Arabia, you must report the accident to the traffic authorities of KSA. Once the traffic authorities verify that you have not been involved in any criminal activity, you can get a Vehicle repair permit issued to get your damaged auto serviced.
No mechanic will service your car without a vehicle repair permit since it is illegal in KSA to do so. This permit excludes you from suspicion of any involvement in a hit and run case or other criminal activities.

Previously, only the Traffic office issued a auto repair permit. However, now it is possible to get a auto repair permit using the Absher online portal.
How to Apply For a Vehicle Repair Permit Via Absher
To apply for a auto repair permit via Absher, have a look at the steps below;
- Log in to your Absher account.
- Scroll till you reach the “Vehicles” tab.
- Click on the “Services” button.
- Select the “Vehicles Management“ option.
- Select the vehicle that needs repairs.
- Click on the “Issue Vehicle Repair Permit“ option on the opened dropdown.
- A new page will open, read the text and select the “Request Vehicle Repair Permit” option.

For Registered Accidents
After completing the above steps, the new window shows all the accidents registered under the vehicle you chose within the last 90 days, including the accident number, date of the accident, and detail of the accident.
- After reading carefully, select the “Create Request” button.
- Press the “Confirm” button to request a vehicle repair permit.
The permit is issued within 90 days. You can get your automobile repaired once you have received the permit. However, you need to get different vehicle permits issued for various accidents.
Permit For Unregistered Accidents
A repair permit for unregistered accidents can only be issued once a year via Absher.
To get the permit for the unregistered accident :
- Log in to your Absher account.
- Scroll till you reach the “Vehicles” tab.
- Click on the “Services” button.
- Select the “Vehicles Management“ option.
- Select the vehicle that needs repair.
- Click on the “Issue Vehicle Repair Permit“ option on the opened dropdown.
- A new page will open now, read the text and select the “Request Vehicle Repair Permit” option.
- Select the “Create Request” button under the unregistered accidents tab.

Note: Once the vehicle repair permit for an unregistered accident is issued, you must go to the garage within 24 hours since that is the validity period for this permit.

You can go to your nearest registered workshop, present your automobile repair permit and get your service. You can also cancel your repair permit in case of any disagreement with the workshop.
