The Saudi Council of Engineers is a regulating body in Saudi Arabia responsible for promoting and developing the Engineering profession.

This body works to upgrade and monitor Saudi engineering standards under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment of KSA.

Established by the royal decree of King Fahad Bin Abdul Aziz in 2002, the Saudi Council of Engineers sets rules for all local and international engineering graduates working in KSA.

SCE is also responsible for conducting examinations to obtain a professional engineering license in Saudi Arabia.

All engineers and some technicians wanting to work in KSA need SCE registration and membership. However, membership in SCE is generally valid for one year only.

It has to be renewed once it has expired if you want to continue working as an engineer or technician in KSA. You also need a valid SCE membership for Iqama renewal. 

Applying For SCE Membership Renewal For Engineers/Technicians

Here we will explain the renewal process for the Saudi Council of Engineer’s membership.

  • Firstly, you need to log in to your SCE account on the SCE website using your user ID and password.
  • After logging in, you need to scroll down until you see the “Renew Membership” button and click on it.
  • You must click on the “Add New Request” button at the bottom of the new page.
  • The new page will open. You need to enter the duration you want to renew your membership, your Iqama number, and the expiry date on this page.
  • After correctly filling in all the required details, click the submit button to start your renewal request.
  • The website will refresh and show you your renewal request number.
  • After submitting the renewal request, wait a couple of hours to receive your SADAD bill number for the fee payment.
  • Once you have made the payment, you can find a message in your account about the acceptance of your membership renewal request.

SCE Membership Renewal Fees:

  • The fee for the renewal of membership to the Saudi Council of Engineers for Engineers is 250 SR/year.
  • The fee for renewal of technicians’ membership by SCE is 200 SR/year.

Renewal Of Temporary SCE Membership

Suppose you had a temporary membership of SCE initially. The membership renewal is only possible if you change your Iqama profession or provide a degree/certificate of the relevant discipline to SCE.

Converting Temporary SCE Membership To Permanent Membership

You can also convert your temporary membership of the SCE to a normal one if you have a relevant degree/certificate. To convert the temporary membership, follow the steps below:

  • Firstly, you need to log in to your SCE account on the SCE website using your user ID and password.
  • Go to the “Convert temporary membership to permanent” option in the Electronic Services.
  • Click on the “Add a new Request” button.
  • Upload the relevant degree/certificate required for conversion to standard membership and submit the request.
  • You can check your request’s status to see when it is completed.
  • After your request is completed, you can file for membership renewal using the procedure given above and obtain the standard membership of SCE.

Note: 

If your request to convert your temporary membership to a normal one is not accepted within a few days of submitting the request, you can book an appointment with SCE and visit them.

Iqama Renewal With Valid SCE Membership

You can only apply for Iqama renewal as an engineer in KSA with a valid SCE membership. To avoid troubles, you must apply for Iqama renewal with a valid SCE at least three months before your Iqama expiry.
